Electric Motorcycles are making their entrance in Marrakech

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Last Saturday, as we leave the E-Prix of Marrakech on the sidelines, we are faced with the new project presented through the collaboration of the urban commune of Marrakech, the Regional Council of Marrakech-Safi and the sustainable transport company EMOB. The project was centered on their promotion for the Electric Motorcycles in the Red City.

After the opening of the largest waste treatment center in all of Africa, The Ochre city and its region have decided to show similar dedication and join the movement of national sustainable development. All within the context of the Marrakech Electric Grand Prix that the urban commune of Marrakech, the Marrakech-Safi Regional Council and the sustainable transport company Emob have revealed the fruitful results of their partnership. A project that aims to encourage and promote sustainable means of transportation, all while keeping it carbon free, and answering to the engagement of the state on the reduction of global warming inducing gas emissions.

Concretely, it comes down to integrating electric motorcycles within the 240 000 Motorcycles currently flooding the roads; in hopes that by 2040 all motorcycle parking spots have become a 100% electric. With the goal of becoming the leading African platform solely dedicated to sustainable mobility, the project foresees the installation of production and commercialization units within the Marrakech region. From here on to 2021, a production of 20 000 Electric Motorcycles is within reach and should by then be cruising through Marrakech.

The transportation sector alone is producing 14.7% of the greenhouse gas emissions, seeing a reduction in the latter makes us happy and also on board in supporting this project!
